PipReaper Risk Settings Explained: How to Protect Your Capital from Day One
PipReaper gives you full control over your risk exposure. Here's exactly what each setting does, our recommended configurations for different account sizes, and how to dial in your perfect risk profile.
The Risk Settings Dashboard
PipReaper's risk settings are accessible from Settings → Risk Management. Every setting has a default value chosen for balanced risk/reward, but you can customise everything to match your personal tolerance.
Core Risk Settings
Risk Per Trade (%)
Default: 2% | Range: 0.5%–5%
This is the most important setting. It determines the maximum percentage of your account balance that can be lost on any single trade. The bot calculates lot size automatically based on this value and the stop-loss distance.
| Account Size | Risk % | Max Loss Per Trade |
|---|---|---|
| $500 | 2% | $10 |
| $1,000 | 2% | $20 |
| $5,000 | 1.5% | $75 |
| $10,000 | 1% | $100 |
Recommendation: Start at 1–2%. Only increase after you've seen the bot perform on your account for at least 30 days.
Maximum Concurrent Trades
Default: 3 | Range: 1–10
Limits how many positions can be open simultaneously. More concurrent trades means more opportunity but also more exposure if the market moves against all positions at once.
Recommendation: 2–3 for accounts under $5,000. 3–5 for larger accounts.
Daily Loss Limit (%)
Default: 5% | Range: 2%–10%
If your account loses this percentage in a single day, PipReaper pauses all trading until the next session. This prevents cascading losses during a bad day.
Recommendation: Keep at 5% or lower. If you're using 2% risk per trade with 3 max concurrent trades, a 5% daily limit means the bot pauses after approximately 2–3 stopped-out trades — exactly the right time to step back.
Maximum Drawdown Limit (%)
Default: 15% | Range: 5%–30%
The nuclear option. If your account drops this much from its peak, PipReaper closes all positions and stops trading entirely until you manually resume. This protects against extended losing periods.
Trade Management Settings
Stop-Loss Mode
- AI-Determined (default) — the AI calculates stop-loss based on market structure, volatility, and the specific trade setup
- Fixed Pips — you set a fixed pip distance for all trades
Recommendation: Use AI-Determined. The bot adapts stop-loss to current volatility, resulting in better risk-adjusted performance.
